The Royals seem set on Japanese pitcher Hiroki Kuroda. One news outlet reports they have a deal in place for him, and will use the money they were intending on giving to center fielder Torii Hunter, who spurned them to sign wiht the Angels on Wednesday. The reported deal is worth between $5 and $6 milloion for two years, with a club option for 2010.
Last week the Toronto Blue Jays claimed outfielder Cody Haerther off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals, well now the Cardinals have him back. The Blue Jays designated him for assignment just a day or two after claiming him, and the Cardinals reclaimed him and added him to their 40 man roster, to propect him from the Rule IV draft.
The Reds are in serious negotiations with closer Francisco Cordero. The Reds have offered $48 million over 4 years. He is still talking with three teams, but it is now believed that the Reds are the front-runners to land his services.
One tidbut: The Twins are reported to be talking about an extension with closer Joe Nathan.
